Description of the Community: The Oakes community (population 1,979) is agricultural with a manufacturing presence and a wide variety of businesses. The Oakes Public School and Public Library are housed together in the Oakes School (enrollment 550). The two libraries compliment each other because of good communication and a positive attitude of both boards and the community members.
