Library Loans

1.Patrons may check up to five items out of the library at one time during library operating hours.

2. Items may be checked out from the library for a period of 2 weeks. At the end of the two weeks, items must be returned or the loan renewed.
  • Borrowers may renew items at the library, through a phone call, or via an email message to the library.
  • If an item is on a reserve list, patrons may only renew check out for that item once.

3. If books are deemed "over-due," patrons will pay a $.05 fee per day until the items are returned or the loan is renewed.

4. If books are lost or destroyed by the borrower, the borrower will be charged a fee equal to the replacement cost of the item.

5. Patrons may request the placement of an item on the reserve list when the item they seek is already in circulation. Patrons will be contacted when the item is available for check out.

E-Reader Policies

1. E-readers may only be checked out of the library for a period of 2 weeks. No renewals will be given unless there is no one on the reserve for the e-reader. If no one is on the reserve list, patrons may check out the e-reader for an additional 2 weeks.

2. All patrons of the Oakes Library will have access to Library-2-Go for check out of e-books. Patrons must create Amazon accounts in order to complete a loan for e-books.
  • E-books may be checked out from Library-2-Go for up to 3 weeks.

3. If a patron loses, damages, or destroys an Oakes Library e-reader, the patron will pay the cost of repair or replacement for the e-reader.

4. If a patron does not return the e-reader at the end of the loan period, they will be assessed a $1.00 fee per day until the e-reader is returned. If the e-reader is not returned 6 weeks after the initial check out date, the patron will be charged the replacement cost of the e-reader.


Computer UseStudents may use library computers when they are available with a teacher pass, with a class visiting the library for the express purpose of using the computers, when checked out of a study hall when computers are available.
